Energy Poverty
Despite the best efforts of the electricity sector,
Around 20 million Filipinos currently live in unnelectrified and poorly electrified areas.

It's time for us to bring a sustainable, lasting

The Solar Solution
And its lasting impact
Traditional solutions, such as kerosene and batteries, are inadequate, dangerous, and expensive. Solar-powered solutions serve as safer and more sustainable alternatives that can also increase an individual’s capacity to earn more income.
In fact, our studies show that owning one small solar lamp helps the average individual in a rural community save $10 per month in energy savings, earn $30 more in income, increase study time by 45%, and reduce coughing by 56%.
CLOSING THE GAP
With the Hybrid Value Chain
Energy poverty persists because individuals in rural communities lack access the electricity grid. Similarly, rural communities have less access to solar-powered solutions because of distribution, financing, and maintenance gaps.
To overcome these gaps, HSSi partners with:
Hybrid plays the role of sales, distribution, and maintenance of solar products. This ecosystem of partnerships, which we call the Hybrid Value Chain (HVC), makes it possible for rural communities to gain access to a wide range of socially impactful products and services on a sustainable basis. The HVC has already proven effective in helping us serve over 50,000 villages.

While we currently have hubs in Calbayog, Baler, San Jose, and Narra, as well as a headquarters in Manila, we plan on closing the access gap by opening more hubs across the Visayas and Mindanao the next 3 years.
We invite you to become a partner in our Hybrid ecosystem! Whether you are an NGO, a Foundation, an MFI or cooperative, a socially-minded business, or just an interested individual, there is a place for you in helping us further bridge the electricity divide.
